Pensioners and Fijians living with disability will travel for Free in buses in the new financial year.

This was part of one of the new initiatives implemented by government in the 2018/2019 national budget.

Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says this will be paid by government directly to every bus companies in the country.

“In fact we are now covering Pensioners under the same scheme allowing them to travel in buses in Fiji free of charge and in that course bus fares of pensioners and person with disabilities will be paid by government directly to bus companies”

Meanwhile the Ministry for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation received a total budget of $133 million, which has increased by $19.8 million.
