Navatu villagers to enjoy piped water

Twenty-three families of Navatu Village in Kubulau Bua are enjoying piped water supply following the opening of a borehole this morning.

The project was undertaken by the Mineral Resources Department and involved the drilling of the borehole and laying of pipes for two kilometers to connect water to the village.

Commissioning the project this morning Minister for Lands and Mineral Resources, Faiyaz Koya, said the project will improve the quality of water on the island.

Navatu struggles with shortages of water especially during the dry season as there are no other water sources on the island.

The project costs over thirty-three thousand dollars.
