A 31-year-old man who raped his wife with an egg plant last year was convicted by the Suva High Court this morning.

The man has been convicted of four counts of rape.

The court heard that the man who was unemployed during the time of the offense used to force his wife to have sex with him daily.

Last year, when the wife refused having sex with him, the man inserted egg plant in her private parts.

Judge Justice Riyaz Hamza said based on the evidence given to court it can be concluded that the victim who was married for ten years, was going through marital rape.

Sentencing submissions will be heard tomorrow.
