Independence Day celebrated with enthusiasm

Independence Day is a day to look back with satisfaction and gratitude for what a country has been able to achieve due to the efforts of successful ancestors.

Speaking at the India’s 72nd Independence Day, Indian High Commissioner to Fiji Vishvas Sapkal says they are fortunate their ancestors through hard work left a free India for them.

Sapkal says the work done by their ancestors is being taken to another level through the development of the society.

“It is a day to renew and resolve the gaps that still remain in our nation building project, gaps that our talented young people will no doubt fill.”

Meanwhile, first Independence Day for India was celebrated in 1947 whereby Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru raised the Indian national flag.
