Prime Minister and Sugar Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has stated that securing a good future for the Sugar Industry is not about smiles and sitting around the grog bowl spinning fantasies.
Bainimarama made this statement while speaking to cane farmers in Ba yesterday.
Bainimarama advised farmers to be aware of politicians who will come with different ideas and opinions on how to improve the sugar industry.
He says the running of the industry is all about having a good strategic plan.
“It is about leadership, it is about having a strategic plan and a vision for the industry, it is about being honest, telling the situation as it is and being clear about what is necessary moving forward.”
He has also has assured farmers that government will do whatever it can to further improve the sugar industry and protect the interest of farmers.
