Fiji’s tourism industry has hit a major milestone, with monthly visitor arrivals surpassing 100,000 for the first time.
A record 105,791 visitors arrived in Fiji in July, marking the first time the country has crossed the six-figure threshold in a single month.
The milestone was highlighted during Tourism Fiji’s Industry Day 2026 at the Sofitel Fiji Resort & Spa.
Minister for Tourism Viliame Gavoka says the surge is about more than visitor numbers, with increased arrivals creating jobs, business opportunities and economic benefits for communities.
However, the focus is now shifting from simply attracting more visitors to ensuring tourism growth is sustainable and delivers greater value across Fiji.
Tourism Fiji Chief Executive Officer Dr Paresh Pant says market intelligence will be critical in keeping Fiji competitive as the global tourism industry continues to evolve.
The record July performance comes as Fiji positions tourism as a key driver of economic activity and community development.
The challenge now is ensuring the benefits of record visitor numbers reach communities across the country while protecting the natural and cultural assets that make Fiji a sought-after destination.
For the industry, the 100,000-plus monthly arrivals mark is a significant milestone, but also raises the bar for what comes next.
