Judge, Justice Sudharshana De Silva says considering previous judgments where father’s have been found guilty of raping their young daughters, it is fitting to give a harsh penalty.

Judge De Silva told the man he breached the trust between father and daughter when he committed the offence and that he was not remorseful.

The father of five had earlier assaulted his 17 year-old daughter, causing injuries to her body before forcibly raping her.

The girl informed her aunt and the village headman of the incident before the matter was reported to police.
