EVR process starts tomorrow

July 2, 2012 5:15 am

With less than 24 hours to go before the start of Fiji’s first ever electronic voter registration process, the minister responsible has sent out his message of encouragement to all citizens to be part of the road to the 2014 elections.

Elections minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says every Fijian citizen has the right to have a say in the next elections, and tomorrow marks the beginning of that journey.

“We’d urge all Fijians to go out and register to vote, like we said it only takes a few minutes of your time, if you won’t register, you won’t be eligible to vote. And that really denies you the right to have a say in which government you want elected, or which political party or individual you want elected and indeed which policies you agree with. So please go out and register to vote, in particular we appeal to the youth to go out and vote.”
