The Government of Fiji has today released $10 million to the University of the South Pacific.

Minister for Finance Professor Biman Prasad says this is the first tranche payment to clear the outstanding grant owed to USP.

Prasad says funding has been sourced from the Financial Year 2022-2023 Budget with a redeployment exercise approved by Cabinet earlier this month.

He adds moving forward, the Ministry of Finance will work closely with the Ministry of Education, Fiji Higher Education Commission and USP to work out a payment plan to clear the outstanding dues to the University.
