The Fiji Roads Authority is still working on the designs of the Tamavua-I-Wai Bridge in Lami.

The work on the bridge will be carried out in two stages.

Acting chief executive, Robert Sen, says firstly a model bridge will be built so there is no disruptions to the traffic flow.

The bridge was temporarily closed last year after FRA engineers discovered a crack in a steel beam under the bridge.

Sen says other bridges around the country are also being looked at.

“There are a lot of other bridges, you’ll see the bridge in Tavua is currently being built by our contractors and there are other bridges that the FRA will be working on in this financial year.”

The total budget for FRA in 2017-2018 is $527.5 million.
