Police awaits statement from Fiji Corrections Services to charge escapees

Police have interviewed five of the seven escapees.

The seven escapees escaped from the Naboro Maximum Prison on the 24th of last month.

Police Chief Intelligence and Investigation, ACP Vakacegu Toduadua says the escapees are expected to be charged either by today or tomorrow depending on the statement from the Fiji Corrections Service.

The statement will be in respect to the cost of damages to the prison properties.

ACP Toduadua says they are likely to be charged for offences of damaging property and escaping from lawful custody.

Investigation are also focusing on those prison officers who assisted the seven prisoners to escape.
