Typist denies alleged embezzlement

A former typist at the Suva Family Court Registry, has denied allegations of embezzlement.

Seini Rokosamu, appeared in the Suva Magistrates Court today after being charged by the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption last August.

She is facing a count of Embezzlement by Servant and three counts of Obtaining a Financial Advantage.

Rokosamu is alleged to have embezzled $2600 from the maintenance fund between January and February 2009.

She has further denied falsifying signatures on the maintenance payment sheet for three different people in order to receive $830.00 on three different occasions in 2010.

FICAC State Counsel Darren Hickes informed the Court that prosecution would be relying on the caution interview as it contained admissions from the accused.

The matter has been adjourned to March 5.
