Tikoenaburevere to take stand in murder trial today

Former police officer Selema Tikoenaburevere charged with murder is expected to give evidence today.

Yesterday, Kelepi Kolinisau took the stand and testified that he was assaulted by a friend of Josua Lalauvaki on September 2nd last year.

Kolinisau said the man who assaulted him, identified as Tomasi, was one of those arrested with Lalauvaki outside a Suva nightclub.

The former officer testified he took one of the arrested persons by the name of Tomasi, into the station where Tomasi punched him in front of ASP Rusiate Ryland.

Kolinisau also said that he did not assault anyone at any point.

The two former police officers Kelepi Kolinisau and Selema Tikoenaburevere each face one count of murder.

It’s alleged they assaulted 26-year-old Lalauvaki outside the Suva night club and at the Totogo police station on September 2nd, last year.

Lalauvaki later died at Suva’s CWM hospital on October 11th as a result of injuries.

The trial will continue today.
