The Suva Magistrates Court was to start the hearing of the case today but accused, Jese Sorovi was not present.

After asking prosecution on his whereabouts, the court heard that he was released from the Nasinu Corrections Centre on 27th January.

Upon demanding explanations from the prosecution, the court heard that prosecution did not have any remand warrant.

Magistrate then said that the remand warrant was issued on two instances and despite this, the accused was released.

The magistrate also told the court that the prosecution was unaware of the remand warrant and has not provided a substantive submission to the court explaining why he was released.

Jone Vakarisi and eight others have been charged with failing to produce a driving license, failing to obey traffic direction, dangerous driving, and criminal intimidation, damaging property, and resisting arrest.

The incident happened near the Mead Road Housing complex in Nabua, Suva last August.

All accused persons have been further remanded.
