A new five-year structure by the Police force to have four police officers at every community police post has been approved by government.

This was revealed by Police Commissioner Brigadier General Sitiveni Qiliho at the handing over of the newly renovated Sawani Community Police Post.

Qiliho was questioned by a resident at Sawani on the availability of police officers and police vehicles in Community police posts.

Qiliho says the five year phase program will see changes in the community police posts whereby there will be four police officers at a police post at any one time.

However, he says that this will take time as they are looking at recruiting 602 police officers in this financial year.

Qiliho adds that they have enough vehicles to be based at community police posts but unfortunately not enough drivers.

The Police Commissioner says that with the new recruitments, the issue of lack of drivers will be addressed as they will need to have a driver’s license.
