Bus passengers narrowly escape death

Passengers on board an S. Nairs Transport narrowly escaped death after the bus lost control and rolled down Edinburgh drive last night.

The bus was on its way from Suva.

Passengers were still in shock when FBC News arrived at the scene minutes after the incident.

One of the passengers by the name of Melaia that spoke to FBC News claimed the brakes of the bus failed causing it to roll down Edinburgh hill just before the flat- approach to the Samabula street lights.

Melaia claims the bus driver struggled to control the bus.

Another passenger Irinieta Vakaudekula confirmed the bus was packed with passengers and some of them were standing on the isle.

Both claim a man got injured after jumping off the bus when it was still rolling.

Both women said they’re lucky to be alive.

Other passengers escaped injuries.

The driver maneuvered the bus which landed in the drain.

He couldn’t speak to us as he was still in shock.

Police are investigating.
