The Agriculture Minister says brucellosis and Tuberculosis cannot be eradicated in one year.
Minister Responsible, Dr Mahendra Reddy says they’re currently trying to establish disease free farms by testing and eliminating affected animals.
Dr Reddy says farmers can buy animals from farms that have been certified disease free.
“These farms will also become source of animals for other farms who could buy from this farms. The farms will be certified and the animals will be certified and then the other farms where these animals will go we will try to fence of that particular farm.”
Dr Reddy says they’re carrying out a breeding program as well through artificial insemination and embryo transplant.
The Ministry has gotten rid of 351 cattle that were infected with Brucellosis and Tuberculosis in the first quarter of this year.
These numbers are expected to increase following the tests currently being carried out by the ministry.
