Boat with six people on board adrift

The Police Command Centre has received a report that six people are onboard a fiber glass boat that is drifting between Tuvuca and Lakeba in the Lau group.

According to the duty officer Inspector Sashi Kant, a villager of Yadrana, in Lakeba notified Police after receiving a call from one of the occupants of the boat, at around ten this morning.

Information gathered say the occupants were returning from a Methodist Church meeting for the Vanuabalavu circuit which was held on the island of Tuvuca.

Police are requesting mariners and coastal villagers to be on a look out and report any sighting to the Police Search and Rescue Centre on 3318529 or to the Maritime Surveillance Centre on 3315380.
