Police in Vanua Levu are concerned about the recent cases of assault on police officers.

Officer in Charge in Cakaudrove ASP Kevueli Baledrokadroka says they are about to go through a tough time now with preparations for elections underway.

He says during this time, there will be people who will see officers in a different light due to differences in opinions and views.

ASP Baledrokadroka says assault of officers is common in Viti Levu and he has urged the Council to ensure that officers at various police stations and police posts in Vanua Levu are safe.

He adds, police officers are the very people who are bringing security, peace and order in communities and they need to be protected.
