Ninety six percent of Fiji’s trade is facilitated through Suva and Lautoka ports.

Fiji Ports Chair Shaheen Ali says sea ports provides a major gateway for trade, transport and logistics.

Ali says the cargo through both ports continue to grow due to the increase in trade.

”So it is imperative that our ports are modern provide world class service and keeps up with the rapid growth of trade and the Fijian economy.”

Ali says both ports handle one hundred seventy four thousand seven hundred and thirty-nine containers annually.

Meanwhile, last year’s country’s export increased by 6.1% to almost 2 billion dollars.
