An $8 million allocation has been given for infrastructure, upgrades, constructions and maintenance of schools throughout the country.

In announcing the 2016 National Budget, Minister for Finance Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says in addition the government has allocated $7.9m to increase allowance for teachers in areas identified very remote.

Sayed-Khaiyum says through this the teachers will be able to adjust to the cost of living in remote areas.
