A 5-year-old boy is dead and three are admitted at Labasa Hospital after an early morning fire in their home.

Police have confirmed that a 45-year-old woman and a 3-year old boy are admitted in critical condition at the Intensive Care Unit.

A 20-year-old victim suffered minor burns and is also admitted for observation.

The incident happened at around 3am yesterday.

FBC News understands there were five members of the family asleep when the fire broke out.

The two-bedroom corrugated and timber house had only one door which made escape difficult.

The National Fire Authority and Police are trying to ascertain the cause of fire.
