Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama says the progress in realising the human rights of the people is owed to the achievements of the 2013 constitution.
Bainimarama says human rights is enshrined in the constitution and a collaborative approach is needed to protect it.
He says engraving a deep culture of human rights is something the government can’t do alone.
“Because of that constitution we are finally all Fijians, we share an equal voice in our democracy as well as an unprecedented array of civil, political and social economic rights.”
The Human Rights Council is an inter-governmental body within the United Nations system made up of 47 States responsible for the promotion and protection of all human rights around the globe.
