17 complaints against real estate agents

Real Estate Agents are under the spotlight – this time for hiring employees who are not registered as a salesperson.

The Real Estate Licensing Board has received seventeen complaints against real estate agents this year and at least three are in relation to salespersons.

REALB Chair, Dr. Abdul Hassan says under the Real Estate Agents Act 2006, a salesperson needs to be registered.

“This is a new trend coming up now, we have been notified that a number of agents who are using the people who are not registered sales person with us and they have been used to visit the properties, the property owners, negotiating the prices and preparing the listing for the properties and contacting the owners without having a proper authority form.”

Dr. Hassan says agents who are involved should cease such practices and follow the rules and regulations.
