14 child rape cases reported to FWCC

Fourteen cases are of child rape were reported to the Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre in the first half of the year.

FWCC Coordinator Shamima Ali says the age group of the victims was from seven to fourteen years.

Ali says they’re providing counseling to the victim’s and their families.

“We need to get to the bottom of this and we all need to get together. Look at the reality of this issue and not just forget it when it’s over. We must make a consistent effort to protect our children.”

Twenty three other cases reported to the Centre include physical and emotional and sexual abuse.
