FCCC penalize trader in Labasa

The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission (FCCC) is issuing a stern warning to traders to comply with the law or face the consequences.

The call comes in light following a trader being fined $3,000 by Court for accepting payment without being able to supply as ordered.

The trader in Labasa, had accepted payment from a school to supply materials, however, nothing was supplied to the school following which the matter was reported to FCCC.

The investigation carried out by FCCC confirmed that the trader had accepted payment and did not supply any materials to the said school.

FCCC is reminding traders and service providers to be fair in their dealings and be aware of the requirements under the FCCC Act 2010.

Negligence will not act as an excuse for traders during the course of investigations undertaken by FCCC.
