Due to the fast-growing renewable energy market, the demands are changing.

CBS Power Solutions, General Manager and Director, Amit Singh says to meet these demands, public-private partnerships are important.

Singh says PPP investments are also very viable for private investors.

“If we don’t venture out into these forms of agreements, we will have to close our business in the next five years because the market is changing, the financial modelling is changing, therefore, we need to change as well to suit the demands.”

Singh adds that Fiji is failing to become an attractive market in the renewable energy sector for international investors.

He claims the challenge lies in the economies of scale as private investors from Europe, US and Australia do not want to invest because the market here is too small.

Singh adds while there are many opportunities in the renewable energy sector, there are many financial limitations.
