Being selected to march into camp for the Pacific Games training was something Seruwaia Laulaba did not see coming her way.

The 16-year-old represented the country in the Fiji Football Under-16 and Under-19 Women’s sides in the OFC Nations Cup this year.

Laulaba, known for her speedy skills and powerful shots, says she was notified by Coach Angeline Chua to join the Pacific Games camp during the Under-16 OFC Nations Cup Qualifier, which was held in Tahiti last month.

The Tailevu lass is the youngest in the team and has been facing some challenges.

“The challenges I faced joining the senior team was when we play in the team. I am scared, I know senior players are strict and all”

Despite her age difference from the other senior players, she is confident that she has the ability to turn heads when she goes onto the field.

Known as Seru, she has solely shifted her focus to football this year.

There are currently 26 players in camp, and only 23 will be selected to go to the Pacific Games.

The Pacific Games will begin on the 19th of next month in Honiara, in the Solomon Islands.
