Nalumisa’s vision for inclusive urban growth

Minister for Housing and Local Government Maciu Nalumisa has reaffirmed Fiji’s commitment to sustainable urban development at the 8th Asia-Pacific Urban Forum (APUF-8) in Suwon, South Korea.

Nalumisa outlined the Strategic Master Plan for Viti Levu, a comprehensive urban policy aimed at fostering economic growth, fostering inclusive urban communities and addressing climate change issues prevalent in small island nations.

During the event, he also unveiled an innovative pilot project for digital development application registration, designed to enhance efficiency and transparency, along with plans for an Online Construction Permit Approval Process.

The minister stressed the significance of effective coordination among stakeholders to ensure sustainability, with a strong focus on inclusivity.

The APUF-8, taking place from October 23 to 25, 2023 in Suwon City, South Korea, serves as a platform for discussing and advancing these critical urban development initiatives.
