Women's league kicks off on Saturday

The 2014 Fiji Football Association women’s league will be launched in Ba on Saturday.

The CP Patel sponsored league has also managed to secure a grant through FIFA, meaning the players will be outfitted with all the gear provided by the world body.

Ba, Nadi, Lautoka, Tavua and Nadroga will be taking part in the league and Fiji women’s coach Charlene Lockington, says this is a big boost for the teams.

She adds there are a number of plans in the pipeline to boost the women’s code and the league was one of them.

The Southern league will be launched in Suva next week and in the North, a week later.

Meanwhile, in Fiji Sun/Skipper Tuna National League matches this weekend, Ba will meet Lautoka on Sunday at Govind Park while Nadroga hosts Nadi at Lawaqa Park.

Rewa takes on Navua at Ratu Cakobau Park while Labasa faces league leaders Suva at the ANZ Stadium.

All the matches will kick off at 3pm.
