The Fiji Pearls suffered another upset loss in the Netball World Cup in Australia, this time to Uganda 61-40.
The Kate Carpenter coached side looked out of sorts against their African opponents, who although are ranked 7 places below Fiji, played an outstanding match.
Passes failed to find their mark on several occasions with Uganda able to make 8 intercepts during the encounter.
Fiji Pearls goal-shooters, Taraima Mitchell and Afa Rusivakula had a tough day at the office making 40 goals out of 51 attempts.
The national side turned the ball over 44 times and conceded 73 penalties.
The result is Uganda’s second win in as many games while Fiji has yet to register a victory.
Fiji’s loss end’s any chance of a play-off spot and the national side stands to drop a few places in world rankings from its current 7th placing.
The Fiji Pearls will take on Zambia in their next match at 5:15pm on Monday.
