A recent return to form and injuries to Wycliff Palu and Ben McCalman has resulted in Radike Samo getting a Wallaby squad call up this week.

Samo says he was surprised to get the news after struggling to regain his fitness and form in Super Rugby this season.

The 36-year-old No.8 who played almost every Test for the Wallabies in 2011, missed selection in the squad for the Wales Test series in June.

But improvement has seen him win selection in the first of two pre-Rugby Championship camps being held for the Wallabies.

Samo says he’s trained exceptionally hard in recent months and believes he’d got back to full fitness at the back end of the Super Rugby season.

Next up for the Wallabies are two Tests against New Zealand in the Rugby Championship on August 18 and 25.
