The Fiji National University will be the official provider for medical assistance including a field physiotherapist for the Marist 7s this year.
FNU Dean of the College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences William May says this initiative is to help medical students get on-hand experience in their relative field.
May says their involvement in sports in the country is also aimed at minimizing non-communicable disease in Fiji.
“We can’t get this rich experience within a few days. If you were to be in the hospital all the time. This is our contribution to the community and provide a rich experience as well for our students and it’s very practical. That’s the good thing about it.”
Meanwhile, the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s will be held next weekend at the ANZ Stadium in Suva.
