Avikash Lal after winning Gold for Fiji [Source: FASANOC]

Team Fiji long distance runner Avikash Lal has won Team Fiji’s 34th gold medal at the Pacific Games.

Lal won the Half Marathon event this morning.

He also recorded a personal best time of 1 hour 12 minutes.

On Tuesday Lal finished 4th in the 10,000 meters and on Thursday he had to settle for silver in the 5000 meters.

Lal thanked his family especially his dad Parshotam Lal for the win.

Team Fiji now has 34 gold, 37 silver and 43 bronze medals.

Fiji is competing in a few sports today including the Men’s and Women’s football bronze playoffs, touch rugby and 3×3 basketball.

Meanwhile, the Pacific Games closing ceremony will be held later this evening.

Football, Basketball 3×3, Triathlon, half marathon, Touch Rugby to name a few followed by the closing ceremony.
