Labasa players get chance to plead case

The 18 suspended Labasa football players will front up the disciplinary committee tomorrow to prove their innocence.

These players were suspended after they threatened to boycott their final Courts IDC pool match against Nadroga and demanded money.

Labasa FA secretary Nilesh Lal says this is an ideal opportunity for the reps to put forward their case.

“It is the ideal opportunity for the players to come in and present their story to the independent tribunal that has been appointed and mitigate also. I am sure if they are able to convince the tribunal that they had valid and legitimate reasons for doing what they did, I am sure they will be released off the hook.”

Lal adds those players who attend the hearing will be the only ones, who will be considered for any leniency.

He says those who forego the hearing will have to abide by whatever decision that is delivered by the disciplinary committee.
