Minister for Tourism Faiyaz Koya has explained the reason why the government has not allocated funding for Fiji International golf tournament in its 2018/2019 national budget.

Koya says while the government has been supporting the event previously they can only work according to the contract which ends this year.

The government had allocated $12.5m for the event last year.

Fiji International has been held at the Natadola Bay Golf Course since 2014.
