Suva vs Labasa in IDC final

October 12, 2019 8:00 pm

The Suva football team fought hard to force its way into the Courts IDC final beating Ba 1-0 at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.

It was Christopher Wasasala’s goal in the 84th minute which confirmed the Capital City side a spot in the final forcing Ba out of the tournament.

Ba tried hard but it was Suva who had other ideas and did not allow the Men in Black to find the back of the net.

Suva will face Labasa in the final at 4pm today and you can catch the live commentary of the match on Radio Fiji Two.

Labasa thrashed hosts Nadi 5-0 in the first Premier division semifinal to advance to the final.

Labasa Coach Roneel Lal says they are very proud of the boys.

“The plan was to keep possession. Move wide and I think so we capitalized on that. Hats off to the boys. They played very well and we now have to go and prepare for the final against Suva.”

Ilisoni Loaivou scored twice for the Babasiga Lions while Ashneel Raju, Atonio Tuivuna and Akuila Mataisuva got onto the score sheet.

In the Senior division final, Nadroga will face Navua at 2pm tomorrow at Prince Charles Park in Nadi.

The Stallions had to come from one-nil down to beat Savusavu 2-1 in the Senior division semifinal.

The northerners scored in the 29th minute through Shavneet Chandra to take a 1-0 lead.

Savusavu could not maintain its lead as Nadroga showed its experience and equalised in the 40th minute through Jonas Nacewa.

Both teams went into the breather with scores tied at one-all.

The humid conditions did not help Savusavu at all as Nacewa scored his second goal in the 55th minute to take a 2-1 lead.

In the first Senior division semifinal, Navua came from behind to defeat Lami 4-2.

The goals for Navua were scored by Joseph Elder, Vineet Chand, Sharad Kumar and Thomas Dunn while Jasnit Vikash and Apisai Sewasewa scored for Lami.
