The Suva Football team players celebrate Ratu Anare's goal.
The Suva football side had to dig deep to beat a strong Nasinu outfit 3-2 in the Vodafone Premier League match at Suva’s ANZ Stadium this afternoon.
It was a tough match for the Capital City side as both teams were locked two-all mid-way in the second half but the Whites had the last laugh to claim the win.
The Suva side took the lead early in the 20th minute through Gagame Feni who scored his first goal in a Suva jersey.
Jone Narabe then equalized for Nasinu in the 30th minute.
Ratu Anare put Suva up 2-1 in the 40th minute before heading into the breather.
The Nasinu side kept the battle alive as Semi Matalau replied to level the scoreline 2-all in the 54th minute.
However, the Capital side did not back down as Sahil Dave netted the winning goal in the last minute to seal the much-needed win.
Despite the win, Suva Coach Intiaz Khan was a bit unhappy with the player’s performance.
“It was a hard game. Nasinu is not the team that used to be that people think. They gave us a good run. I’m a bit unhappy with the players on what we discussed and what we were supposed to do in the formation and the players a bit relaxed I believe they think they still on top of the world and I believe we just have to boil it down.”
With the win, Suva now secures three points from the match and will go on a bye next week before taking on Nadi the following week.
