The Fijian side regrouped in the second spell and saw star striker Roy Krishna netting the winning goal in the 58th minute.

Coach Christophe Gamel thanked his players for playing as a team.

“We struggled because their blood were boiling and we dedicated this win to the Christchurch shooting victims and former Nadi rep who passed away Tora, and I’m really happy for the boys because first time we won 2 consecutive games.”

Roy Krishna says it was a lucky goal for him.

“As a striker you need to gamble in the box and I knew he could’ve miss and I could’ve read his mind when I got the ball and that was a lucky touch and I put it in.”

Mauritius coach Akbar Patel says it was a crucial game and they gave away penalties to the Fijian side.

“It was a very tight game and very physical. The two teams have the same shape but we let Fiji the ball and they counter our attack.”

Fiji is the only consistent team in the International Friendly where they beat New Caledonia 3-0 earlier this week and again defeating Mauritius today.
