Drug use amongst our young soccer players is now a concern following the recent suspension of two female players.
The Fiji Football says they’re working hard to identify all users however, for now, they’re only penalizing players according to the Association’s policies.
Chief Executive Mohammed Yusuf says they’re ready to work with the Police to nip this problem in the bud.
“We haven’t gone to that extent to talk to the law enforcement agencies, because we believe we have to abide by our set principles. But if the Police department or the law enforcement agencies want information we are ready to assist them.”
The Fiji FA says it’s considering long-term suspension if players continue to use drugs to enhance their performance.
Since January 1st, nine U23 football players have been suspended after failing their drug tests.
