Flying Fijians aware of high expectations

September 2, 2015 6:53 pm

The Vodafone Flying Fijians side are aware of the country’s high expectations when it comes to the Rugby World Cup.

Fiji’s assistant coach, Tabai Matson says the players are mindful of the country’s desire for a fairytale outing but the team’s focus will be on executing the game-plan to match some of the world’s best teams in the pool stages.

“For us, I don’t want to be a cliché but it will be game-by-game. Clearly the opening game against the host nation and one of the top teams in the world will be a massive hurdle but the self-belief of the players will hopefully put us in good stead. With regards to an outcome, who knows; I think we all want a fairytale but for us as a professional group of players, we have a lot of hard work to do.”
