The Fiji Yachting Association is hoping to get an increase in their budget allocation from the government in the next financial year.

Secretary Neville Koop says they need to facilitate their sailors with equipment to help them prepare for any international competitions.

“We would like to have an additional funding beyond that and we applied to extend our funding beyond the official three years and we see there’s a need to do this for the next ten years or so. We looking at ways not only to supplement coach salary but the resources he needs in terms of the support materials and we need more equipment for our elite level sailors.”

The association received around eighty thousand dollars which covers their salaries and other costs in the last financial year.
