The Fiji Hockey Federation is one of the few sports that will feature this Easter weekend in Suva.

Fiji Hockey development officer, Tai Smith says they have confirmed nine men and eight women’s teams who will participate over the next three days.

She adds the event will also be dedicated to their fellow team-mates in the western division who were forced to withdraw from the event due to the recent floodings.

“We have asked all hockey players who have anything that could help our brothers and sisters in the west to bring whatever they have it to the turf for our western team-mates and we will take it to Red Cross for distribution. This weekend we are just hoping to get hockey underway with the 5-a-side being played for the first time.”

The participating teams will compete in two grades which begins from 9am tomorrow at the National Hockey Centre in Laucala Bay.
