Fiji finishes fifth as England wins Cape Town 7s

The Vodafone Fiji 7s side will have to wait for at least one more year to win the Cape Town tournament.

The team’s dreams of winning this years title were dashed after 31-26 extra-time loss to England in the quarter-final.

Sevouloni Mocenacagi, Jerry Tuwai and Joeli Lutumailagi scored a try each to lead 19-14 at the break.

Kitione Taliga scored one more in the second half as both teams were locked at 26-all at full with England’s Dan Norton scoring the winner in extra time.

Fiji then went on to beat USA 28-12 in the 5th place semi-final.

Fiji defeated Kenya 33-21 to finish on the tournament on fifth spot.

Meanwhile, England won the Cape Town tournament defeating South Africa 19-17 in the final.

In the Cup semi-finals, South Africa beat New Zealand 14-7 while England defeated Scotland 33-14.
