Excuses are for weak people. These are the words of sevens legend Waisale Serevi while speaking at the Rugby for Change reception hosted by New Zealand High Commissioner Jonathan Curr last night.
Serevi congratulated the Fiji Deaf rugby team for winning the bronze medal at the Deaf Rugby World Cup in April.
Serevi says this should be a motivating factor to everyone.
“I know we wanted our men’s to win the rugby world cup but they came back fourth but for you alone winning the that bronze medal this year for me it motivates people that there’s no barriers no excuses for us achieving your goals.”
The University of the South Pacific will be hosting the ‘Rugby for Change – Celebrating diversity with Waisale Serevi’ seminar this afternoon at the Oceania Centre Pavilion.
He will be joined by other prominent athlete speakers, including former All Black 7s halfback Rocky Khan.
