Cricket Fiji gears up for World Cricket League

The Fiji men’s cricket side is aiming to lift its performance in time for the 2015 World Cricket League Division 6 competition.

The Joe Rika-captained side returned from Australia yesterday where it won the East Asia Pacific regional qualifiers.

Cricket Fiji General Manager, Inoke Lesuma says players will need to improve on certain areas to be able to compete in the competition.

“We were in the World Cricket League from 2007, 2008 and unfortunately we were kicked out last year. But after Lismore competition we are now back in the World Cricket league and so it’s good to be back at the World Cricket league’’.

Lesuma adds three teams are confirmed to be competing at the tournament alongside Fiji; Vanuatu, Cayman Islands and Papua New Guinea with the rest of the field to be determined after the regional qualifiers.

The date and the venue of the World Cricket League Division 6 competition is also yet to be confirmed.
