October 11, 2017 4:25 pm

District coaches are under close watch at the Courts Inter District Championships, which is underway at Churchill Park in Lautoka.

Apart from selecting players, the Fiji Football technical team has been visiting coaches around the country pre-tournament and at the event, assessing the coaches.

Fiji team head coach Christophe Gamel says he will be keeping close tabs on mentors as they hold the key to the performance of players.

“The work that we have done with my staff, with Yogendra (Datt) and Ravinesh Kumar, I have launched a process to monitor the coaches all around Fiji now. It’s an important project as we need to have a good type of play, because I have too many problems when I play with the national team and when the players go back to the senior team or the premier league, we have problems and we have to restart the process. So I will now work on the consequences and I will work on the coaches.”

Gamel will also be selecting a squad which will move into camp after IDC to start preparations for the international against Estonia and Cambodia.
