Thirty youths recently participated in a three day first-aid training organized by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, facilitated by the Fiji Red Cross in Nausori Village hall.
Minister responsible, Laisenia Tuitubou encouraged participants to remember the lessons learnt as it might come in handy in saving someone’s life.
Tuitubou says there are situations when a doctor or a health professional is not around and it might be up to them to save someone’s life.
Participants also underwent special training on dealing with post-traumatic situations like serious accidents.
One of the participants, Neha Raj says she did not realize how important first aid was and has learnt that it can save a life in the absence of medical personnel’s.
