*Nakasi has rapidly developed to become a prime residential area with booming business centres.
Local Government Minister Parveen Kumar says keeping the growth in mind, the construction on the 19th fire station will soon commence at the Adi Lady Davila Ganilau Road in Nakasi.
Kumar says it’s vital to have a fire station in Nakasi as it’s one of the highly populated area.
“The expansion of the fire services into the rural and heavily populated areas is in line with Government’s intent to provide every Fijian easy access to such essential services.”
Kumar says the National Fire Authority had some difficulties in responding to emergencies as the nearest fire station is in Nausori, which is 6km away.
He says this new fire station will ensure speedy response to fires and other emergencies in Nakasi.
