Meeting the high demands for water supply is one of the challenges faced by the Water Authority.
General Manager Customer Services, Sekove Uluinayau says WAF is looking at increasing the capacity of treatment plants, so that customers can receive consistent water supply.
Uluinayau says they’re looking at avenues to improve their services to all Fijians in both the rural and urban areas.
“We are also upgrading upstream for more water sources and increasing our capacity at the treatment plant. And also to increase our coverage. It’s all part of the holistic approach.”
He adds that they’re also replacing undersized pipes.
Currently, WAF has over 144,000 residential and non-residential metered customers residing in urban areas.
The Authority is also setting up water supply systems in rural areas -reaching over 700,000 people.
